Travel extracts from Portugal

I've been fortunate to visit Portugal many times over the last few years for academic conferences and teaching sessions - here are some extracts from my travel sketchbooks concentrating on graphic elements such as typography and ceramic tile designs.

A Glance Through a Window

A winter scene viewed from the train reminded me of the Teutoburg Wald in Germania, and the loss of three Roman legions under the command of Publius Quinctilius Varus in 6 AD.
