Redundant in a Landscape

Walking along sections of the Cromford canal, near the village of Jacksdale in Nottinghamshire. The canal was used to transport coal to factories by narrowboat, but became redundant when the railway was built. The area is heavily overgrown but dotted amongst this landscape are architectural relics of an industrial past.

Remembrance of Things Past.

'Awakening in his dark room, Marcel finds himself in a photographic space. What whirls before him in this dark space is not only the changing, unseen walls, the doors, the furniture, but also all the things, places, and years that remain written within his memory. Like a spectator in the dark projection hall of a cinema, he encounters a succession of images moving before him with rapidity that, in bringing together the past and the present, prevents him from orientating himself in relation to either the image, the past, or the present.'

Eduardo Cadava discussing Marcel Proust's 'Remembrance of Things Past'.

A Space Requiem

Pre-production drawings completed for the film 'Immortal Stories', when the project was at a very early stage of applying to the Wellcome Trust for funding. The subsequent film took a very different direction when awarded the Sciart Award, focusing on Hollywood's portrayal of cancer.
